Kimberly Rivers Roberts is a filmmaker, rapper, composer, and producer, who starred in the Academy Award nominated documentary film, Trouble the Water. The film documented her experience as a Hurricane Katrina Survivor. She is the winner of the 2008 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize, Full Frame Documentary Grand Jury Award, and the Gotham Independent Film Award. Rolling Stone's Peter Travers interviewed Kim also known as the "Blackkoldmadina" at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival And reported that "a star is born." Kimberly, her music, and her story have also been written about in Vibe, Essence, Ebony, Jet, Sister to Sister, and Source.

Kimberly now has started a non-profit organization called Trouble Waters-Awakening Minds, through which she is helping residents of New Orleans recover from substance abuse and addiction and rebuild their community. Kimberly also travels doing motivational speaking, making public appearances, and performing in concerts to promote her organization.

Kim travels speaking about overcoming obstacles undoing ignorance, youth, women self empowerment, and finding God in Darkness. Kimberly is also a leader in her community in the fight against poverty.
